Two people have qualified to run for Clermont Town Council’s Ward 1 seat in a March 20 special election.

Eric Thomas, a former councilman who in 2016 resigned his post in the middle of a four-year term, will face off against Cynthia Lyne Shubert-Jett.

Qualifying ended Wednesday in the city’s effort to replace Robin Brown, who resigned her council post in December.

The winner of the seat will serve from March 26 of this year to Dec. 31, 2019, according to a legal notice.

The election will take place at Town Hall, 109 King St., according to the Hall County elections office.

Advance voting is set for Feb. 26-March 16 at Town Hall, and absentee ballots will be available at Town Hall beginning Feb. 26.
