A fallen tree knocked out power for 1,007 customers of Jackson Electric Membership Corp. Sunday night as a storm went through the Gainesville area.

The outage affected customers served by the west Gainesville substation in the area around Dawsonville Highway and Gainesville Marina, said Jackson spokeswoman Bonnie Jones.

Jones said the power went out about 8:37 p.m. when the tree knocked down an electrical line and was expected to be restored by about 10:15 p.m.
