Weather permitting, Georgia Department of Transportation crews will shift traffic on Atlanta Highway to the newly paved lanes between Poplar Springs Road to Old Southern Heritage Drive.
"Crews are widening (Ga.) 13," DOT District Engineer Russell McMurry said. "Traffic will be shifted from its current location to the new asphalt next to Blackshear Place Baptist Church. Don’t worry, you will still have asphalt access into Chick-Fil-A and the Robson Crossing Shopping Center."
This traffic shift will allow crews to continue to work on the "old" lanes of Ga. 13 while traffic is using the "new" lanes. Lanes will be closed on Ga. 13 as the shift is made. Crews are planning to work in the median of Ga. 53 between Ga. 13 and Internet 985 daily through Friday.
One lane of Ga. 53 may be closed between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. as this work occurs.
The overall projected completion date is February 10, 2010 with a construction cost more than $74.6 million.
