Traffic checkpoint scheduled for Friday night in South Hall

Flowery Branch Police officers are conducting a safety checkpoint from 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, until 2 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the intersection of Gaines Ferry and McEver roads.

Officer Matthew Mahathey said the check is to “increase overall roadway safety and to gain voluntary compliance” of Georgia’s traffic laws, which include valid driver’s licenses, proof of insurance, seat belts, child safety seats and driving under the influence.

“This will also increase law enforcement visibility in high crash and DUI areas in order to deter and remove those impaired drivers from the roadways of Flowery Branch and Hall County Georgia, making our roadways safer for all who use them,” Mahathey wrote in a news release.

Mahathey said the department is working with Georgia State Patrol, the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office and the Hall County Fire Services.
