Though Hall and some surrounding counties are currently experiencing thunder storms and a tornado watch, the weather system responsible is expected to have moved through the area by later this evening.

A tornado watch went into effect for Hall County on Sunday afternoon and will stay in effect until 9 p.m., when most of the severe weather is expected to have passed, said Sean Ryan, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Peachtree City.

Due to the cooler temperatures here, Ryan expects the storms to dissipate as they move through the Gainesville area.

“Conditions are favorable (for a tornado), but as these storms move up into (Gainesville), they’re just going to continue to weaken,” Ryan said.

As the evening progresses, even the rain is expected to disappear as low temperatures in the mid-40s keep the sky clear and dry throughout the night.

Clear and cool is also the prediction for Monday with highs in the mid-50s and lows in the 30s, Ryan said.

As for the coming week, it’s too early to tell.

“There won’t be another chance of rain until late Thursday,” Ryan said. “It’s too early to say about any severe weather, but this time of year, that’s always possible.”
