A South Hall toddler was airlifted to an Atlanta children's hospital in critical condition after being found floating in a residential pool by a relative Saturday night, officials said.

Hall County Fire and Emergency Services and Hall Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a house in the 5100 block of Strickland Road off Ga. 53 shortly before 6:30 p.m., Hall County Sheriff's Col. Jeff Strickland said.

A relative was giving a 20-month-old girl CPR when emergency workers arrived, Strickland said. The girl had been found floating unresponsive in the pool a short time earlier, he said.

The girl was rushed to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, then flown by helicopter at about 8:30 p.m. to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, Strickland said.

The incident appeared to be accidental and no foul play is suspected, Strickland said.

Authorities were not releasing the child's name Saturday night.
