Grant application process opens

The city of Gainesville has scheduled a public meeting at 9 a.m. on Friday to discuss the application process of its Community Development Block Grant program.
Private nonprofit organizations and governmental agencies that provide services to low- and moderate-income residents are eligible.
Those attending can pick up an application packet and ask questions about the process. Attendees should go to the human resources training room on the first floor of city’s building at 311 Henry Ward Way. A maximum of $51,000 is available for Program Year 2013.
The purposes of the funds include services for the homeless and for low- and moderate-income seniors, youths and people with AIDS.

Gainesville needs to appoint 3

Appointments to the Gainesville Redevelopment Authority are on the agenda for today’s Gainesville City Council meeting.
The positions are currently held by Mike Whitmire, Jim Moore and Martha Randolph.
Whitmire moved out of town and Moore is term-limited. Randolph is eligible for another term because she was currently serving an unfilled term.
The terms for the board members are four years and members are eligible again after sitting out for a year.
