Local government officials will meet tonight for the first of three meetings to gather public input on what capital projects should be funded through a new round of special purpose local option sales tax, or SPLOST VII.
Officials are projecting that, if approved by voters in a ballot referendum this fall, SPLOST VII will generate about $130 million in revenue.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the Spout Springs Library in Flowery Branch, 6488 Spout Springs Road.
Hall County to host first budget hearing Thursday
The Hall County Board of Commissioners will host the first of three budget hearings Thursday.
Officials are expected to preview the 2015 fiscal year budget proposal and discuss matters such as whether to lower the property tax rate and how much reserve money to use to balance the budget.
The budget hearing will take place during the 6 p.m. board meeting at the Hall County Government Center, 2875 Browns Bridge Road in Gainesville.
Gainesville City Council cancels work session
Gainesville City Council has canceled its work session Thursday morning due to lack of new business items.
City Manager Kip Padgett said officials are still prepared to adopt the 2015 fiscal year budget at the council’s next meeting, June 17.
Channel 18 moving on Charter
The local government channel, TV18, is moving to channel 180 for Charter customers on June 17, according to city officials.
Comcast customers will see no change.
