Two Flowery Branch teens have been charged with stealing items from 13 cars in a South Hall neighborhood, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office said.
John Fields, 17, and Taylor Abernathy, 18, were charged with 13 counts of entering auto, six counts of theft by receiving and one count of possession of marijuana, Sheriff’s Col. Jeff Strickland said.
The thefts occurred Saturday night in the Southern Oaks subdivision in Flowery Branch. Most of the cars were unlocked, Strickland said. A window was broken out of one car and another car had its convertible top cut, he said.
Investigators recovered four stolen iPods, four GPS units and assorted other items that were taken from the cars, Strickland said.
“The sheriff’s office strongly recommends that you lock your vehicle when unattended (even at home) and remove or secure in the trunk any valuable items such as iPods, GPS units, cell phones and laptops,” Strickland said.
Fields and Abernathy, who are charged as adults, remain in the Hall County Jail.
