Two young teens have been charged in an overnight burglary at Lanier Elementary School in Murrayville, authorities said Tuesday.

A 13- and 14-year-old are being held at the Gainesville Regional Youth Detention Center after being arrested in the alleged break-in, which took place just after midnight Tuesday, according to a news release from the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.

Patrol deputies responded when an alarm was triggered at the school, and they found one boy inside the school and a second running, according to the release.

Investigators said the two took various school supplies; the items’ worth has not been determined. All items were recovered, spokeswoman Deputy Nicole Bailes said.

Both teens are charged with burglary in the second degree.

The case remains under investigation.
