A fire that consumed an unoccupied Gainesville home on Christmas morning may have started under suspicious circumstances. No one was hurt.

According to Battalion Chief Scott Cagle, Hall County Fire Services received a call at 7:06 a.m. Thursday from a neighbor in the 6100 block of Grant Ford Road. When firefighters arrived, a two-story house was “fully involved” in a fire, Cagle said.

Cagle said the cause of the fire is “suspicious in nature” because it was apparently vacant. The fire chief also confirmed the home had no power.

Cagle said in an email Thursday a witness saw a white Ford Ranger with a ladder leaving the driveway before the fire was reported.

The fire is under investigation. The name of the owner and damage estimate were not available.
