The Gainesville man charged in the shooting of two women Friday at Atlanta Street Apartments in Gainesville is now facing additional charges in the incident.

Antwan Xavier Earls, 24, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault related to the attack on Sheena Mattox and Angelene Hall, who were both believed to have been shot in the upper torso. They were shot outside the apartment complex near the First Congregational Holiness Church.

Gainesville police spokesman Cpl. Joe Britte said late Tuesday that Earls was charged with one count each of violation of conditional bond order, possession of a gun by a felon, possession of a firearm in the commission of a crime, aggravated assault (family violence act) and
second-degree burglary.

Earls was arrested Friday around 3:30 p.m. a few blocks from the shooting scene.

A Gainesville police news release said Earls is the lone gunman, and the victims were targeted by the shooter.

Both women are back at home recovering.

Earls was seen shirtless with a noticeable cut on his right forearm Friday after his arrest.

Northeast Georgia Medical Center officials said Earls was discharged Friday after being treated. He is being held at the Hall County Jail.
