One of two men arrested on theft charges in Toccoa may face similar charges in Hall County, a spokesman for the Hall County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

Daniel Arnot, 23, who was arrested in Stephens County and charged with several counts of theft and criminal damage to property, also is being investigated for similar crimes in Hall County, Col. Jeff Strickland said.

"There is a possibility that there are charges pending in Hall County," Strickland said.

Stephens County investigators believe Arnot and 20-year-old Corey Beard are part of a larger theft network that has been stealing air conditioners, catalytic converters and other car parts in Stephens and Hall counties. Both men are from Eastanollee.

Stephens County sheriff’s Capt. Jimmy Mize says authorities caught Beard and Arnot on camera as they were getting ready to dismantle an air conditioning unit. Both are being held in the Stephens County jail.

Strickland would not comment further on the subject except to say that the matter is still under investigation by Hall County sheriff’s detectives.
