Seasonal job seekers gathered Saturday at Lake Lanier Islands, where more than 400 positions need to be filled.

The job fair, which partnered with the Georgia Department of Labor, guided dozens of potential applicants through employment opportunities Saturday afternoon.

Lake Lanier Islands recruiting manager Chris Martin said GDOL serves as a helpful partner when trying to find applicants for the summer.

“They do a good job of posting a lot of the job fairs for us,” Martin said.

Inside the job fair, job seekers filled out applications for work at Lanierworld, the campgrounds and other positions throughout the resort.

“We put everybody even through this through two quick interviews,” Martin said.

For Suwanee resident Ben Collins, an applicant and Georgia Southern business management student, the job fair presented some options for making a decent amount of money for savings.

Thinking about something in the water park, he said he hopes to repeat his strategy of saving during the summer.

“I saved up a good amount of money and was kind of living off that, and it just kind of depleted,” he said.

Another college student residing in the area for the summer was Gainesville resident Hope Salloum. Salloum, a journalism student at Georgia Gwinnett College, said she was hoping to work with children at the resort.

“I just know that I’m going to be free during the summer, and I’d rather work than sit at home,” she said.

Applicants are required to be at least 16 years old and must be able to work weekdays, weekends, evenings and holidays.
