The National Weather Service has issued a significant weather alert for thunderstorms in Hall, White, Banks, Lumpkin and Union counties through 7:15 p.m.
At 6:22 p.m., National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm over Clevelandl, moving southeast at 20 mph. The storm has the potential to produce pea-sized hail, 40 mph winds and frequent cloud to ground lightning, along with heavy downpours.
The forecast callls for a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms tonight, mainly before 8 p.m., with an overnight low around 59.
