Small-business center plans several workshops

The University of Georgia Small Business Development Center in Gainesville has scheduled several upcoming workshops at its offices at 999 Chestnut St.

A workshop titled "Procurement/Marketing To State & Local Governments" is set for 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, led by Georgia Tech procurement specialist Joe Beaulieu. The cost is $15. Participants will learn how state agencies and local government authorities buy goods and services, how to register as a vendor, who to contact, where to find opportunities, what the requirements are for bidding and how to get paid.

A workshop on "Advanced Starting a Business — Planning & Financing" is set for 6-9 p.m. Wednesday. The fee is $69. This workshop is part 2 of the startup business process and includes instruction on marketing strategy and research, costs, managing cash flow, financing and building an effective business plan. Class materials include the text.

"Starting a Business — The Basics" is set for 4-6 p.m. Thursday. The workshop is Part 1 in the startup process and offers key instruction and resources to help new businesses succeed.
