A rabid skunk recently came in contact with a dog in North Hall, marking Hall County’s third confirmed rabies case of 2018.

The animals encountered each other in the 5700 block of Cleveland Highway in Clermont.

The skunk was shipped to the Georgia Public Health Lab-Virology Section in Decatur. Hall County Animal Control was advised Monday that the skunk tested positive for rabies.

Positive alert signs will be posted in the area where the rabid skunk was located. If you live in this area or see an animal acting abnormally in the area, contact Hall County Animal Services at 770-531-6830 or during nonworking hours call Hall County Dispatch at 770-536-8812.

Animal owners are encouraged to vaccinate their domesticated pets for rabies.
