Monitoring and enforcing Hall County codes that regulate short-term vacation rentals on Lake Lanier has proved a growing challenge for local officials, so much so state lawmakers have launched a study committee to review standards in this rental market. Terry Rogers, a Clarkesville Republican who chaired the study committee, said the group’s main recommendation is to continue allowing local governments to independently regulate these rentals. “I think it’s very wise to leave the decision to the local governments,” Hall Commissioner Jeff Stowe said.
