Gainesville Police are investigating a shooting death at the Orchard Brook Apartments off of McEver Road.

Laqueria Harrison stood on the top step in the Orchard Brook Apartments Monday night screaming, “I can’t lose my brother.”

Three men have been charged with felony murder in connection with a Monday night shooting death at a Gainesville apartment complex.

Jaquerian Harrison, 21, of Gainesville, was shot multiple times around 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Orchard Brook Apartments off of McEver Road.

Brandon Scott King, 27, and Cheslen Dequan Bell, 20, both of Gainesville, and Kevin Michael Turner, 28, of Gillsville, were charged Tuesday afternoon with felony murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Sgt. Kevin Holbrook said Harrison was rushed to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Laqueria Harrison said she was asleep and awoke to the sound of gunshots.

“I looked out the window and I see my mom laying on the ground with my brother,” she said.

The 21-year-old Harrison was hanging out with friends near the apartment complex common area.

Jaquerian Harrison was planning to go to Lanier Tech soon to pursue welding, Laqueria Harrison said.

“He stayed to himself,” she said, adding that her brother had an 8-month-old son. “He didn’t bother anybody.”

Laqueria Harrison, a sophomore at Gainesville High School, said she feels like her brother was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

“We would have these random conversations, and he would always tell me, ‘Stay in school. Don’t ever drop out, because I don’t ever want to see you out here on the streets,’” she said.
