Tenants at the Sherwood Plaza shopping center are on the way out, but on Tuesday a nail salon business failed on a technicality to get Gainesville City Council approval to relocate to an empty building across the street. Although the council voted 3-1 to give nail salon owner Hanh My Thi Doan special use approval to locate his business at 502 S. Enota Drive NE, the motion failed because it did not get the necessary four votes required. The business owner and his representative, real estate agent Pat Burke, were confused and disappointed that their motion had failed despite getting three votes in favor and one against.
