Shelly Echols’ victory over incumbent Scott Gibbs in the Hall County Board of Commissioners race in District 3 was total on Tuesday, May 22.

Echols won all 10 precincts in the district covering North Hall and East Hall — and by wide margins. In the entire district, Echols took about 72 percent of the vote to Gibbs’ 28.

Some of Echols widest margins of victory were in Lula, Clermont and Gillsville, all communities that were set to lose out on medical units as part of a controversial plan from county administration and Hall County Fire Services that was eventually scrapped.
