A portion of Thompson Road in Dawson County will be closed for two months beginning Thursday so its intersection with Ga. 53 can be rebuilt. The work will close about 1,000 feet of the roadway, beginning at Ga. 53, according to a news release from the Georgia Department of Transportation. The intersection will be reworked so that Thompson and Ga. 53 intersect at the same grade, so motorists can better see oncoming traffic.
