Gainesville police and firefighters shut down part of Main Street on Tuesday morning due to a gas leak in the Hunt Tower.

Main Street has reopened following a gas leak this morning at Luna’s Restaurant in the Hunt Tower in Gainesville.

“It appears there was a burner left on overnight,” Gainesville Fire Department spokesman Keith Smith said. Firefighters responded to a strong smell of gas and ventilated the restaurant, he said.

Liberty Utilities is on the scene, just off the downtown square, helping to locate what may be an additional slow gas leak, Smith said.
