New businesses have sprouted along Thompson Bridge Road in Gainesville as the busy corridor feeding Green Street and downtown sees more and more demand.
Chains like Walmart, Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts have replaced aging strip malls and vacant buildings.
Now comes a request to develop two retail office spaces of 3,200 and 4,000 square feet, respectively, on the former site of Syfan Landscape Center.
The property is sandwiched between Little Ladybug and Stan’s Biscuits and Deli, across from the Publix-anchored shopping center.
An older metal building, shed and greenhouse structure would be removed in the process.
The property developer is seeking relief from requirements governing setbacks from the road.
The Gainesville Planning and Appeals Board will review the matter and make a recommendation to City Council when it meets at 5:30 p.m. March 13 in the municipal courtroom of the Public Safety Complex, 701 Queen City Parkway.
