Desiring more time with family and a chance to be a “normal citizen” again, Rep. Carl Rogers, R-Gainesville, said Wednesday that he would not seek re-election to the state legislature this year. Gainesville City Councilman Sam Couvillon’s name has been floated in some local political circles as a possible candidate for the District 29 seat. Qualifying for state and local offices is March 7-11 for the May 24 state primary.
