A rash of fires Sunday did damage but caused no injuries.

Seven people were displaced from their East Hall home after fire swept through the structure Sunday afternoon, leaving it a total loss.

The American Red Cross was called to help the residents, who lived in two connecting mobile homes in the 2500 block of Gillsville Highway, near Athens Highway.

Initial reports were that several people were inside the home, but Hall County firefighters found no one "after a quick interior search," Chief David Kimbrell said.

On their way to the fire, "firefighters reported a visual column of smoke from several miles away," the chief said.

Upon arrival, firefighters found that fire had engulfed the mobile homes.

The blaze caused quite a scene, as several neighbors watched from a hillside.

Later in the day, after an investigation, officials concluded the fire appeared to have "started in the area of the television and other electronics," Kimbrell said.

Later Sunday evening, firefighters were called to two separate fires at about 8 p.m.

A fire in the 2000 block of Eldorado Drive in East Hall smelled of electrical burning and there was light smoke inside the home, Kimbrell said.

Firefighters were able to get the power company to cut off power to the home, and the homeowner planned to stay with family Sunday night, Kimbrell said.

Just a few minutes later, firefighters were called to the 200 block of Skyview Drive off Dawsonville Highway.

Heavy fire could be seen as firefighters approached, and a singlewide mobile home was found fully involved, Kimbrell said.

About 8:40 p.m. Sunday, firefighters were still working to extinguish the flames.

The home's residents had evacuated and no one was injured.

Cause of the fire is not yet known.
