A case involving a 16-year-old accused of rape was continued to a later date.

Because the district attorney’s office decides whether a juvenile is tried as an adult, The Times has not named the accused.

The 16-year-old faces charges of rape, aggravated sodomy and second-degree burglary.

Officials began the proceedings Monday but halted to discuss The Times’ presence in the courtroom. After a deliberation in the judge’s chambers, the hearing was continued to March 16.
