The rain has eased up for now, but more may be on the way.

The National Weather Service is forecasting an increased chance of showers this afternoon and tonight, and on into Monday.

The area remains under a flood watch through Monday morning. Localized heavy flooding is possible in low-lying areas and areas near creeks and rivers.

Since Saturday morning, 3.27 inches of rain has been recorded at the NWS automated station at Gainesville’s Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport. More than an inch and a half fell overnight.

The chance of showers continues into Monday and diminishes by Tuesday. Temperatures should stay in the 50s today and drop to the upper 40s tonight, but return to the low 60s Monday and the 70s by midweek.
