A rabies case has been identified in the 4900 block of Gillsville Highway in the Gillsville area.
A raccoon made contact with two dogs in the area, and the raccoon was sent to the Georgia Public Health Lab in Decatur. On Thursday, Hall County Animal Control learned the animal tested positive for rabies.
Signs will be posted in the area where the rabid raccoon was found. If you live in this area or you see an animal acting abnormally, contact Hall County Animal Services at 770-531-6830 or during non-working hours call Hall County Dispatch at 770-536-8812.
This is the second confirmed rabies case in Hall in 2019.
Rabies vaccines are available at the Hall County Animal Shelter for $10 Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 1688 Barber Road, Gainesville.
