A call of a possible robbery shortly after midnight Wednesday at a Gainesville gas station ended not with gunfire or arrests, but with the  interruption of an ill-timed nap.

Officers with the Hall County Sheriff's Office and the Gainesville Police Department responded in force to a possible robbery in progress at the Exxon gas station at the corner of Dawsonville Highway and Shallowford Road a few minutes after midnight Wednesday, Sept. 19. Surrounding the building, officers attempted to communicate with a person thought to be inside.

At about 1 a.m., a group of officers opened the front door of the station and stormed the building with guns drawn. A K-9 unit was also deployed.

Moments later, officers exited the building, visibly at ease.

When asked if anyone had been inside, one officer said, "We got one out."

The officer said the person was an employee who had gotten locked in the gas station.

"That's what happens when you fall asleep in the back," the officer said.

The worker was not identified.
