Starting Monday, May 13, a stretch of Whitehall Road in East Hall County will be closed to traffic permanently.

The closure is part of work on Healan's Head's Mill. An approximately half-mile portion of Whitehall Road will be closed so that the spot can become part of a future county park.

Drivers will need to use Greenway Road as the connection between Simpson Road and Noah Martin Road. Cul-de-sacs will be constructed at each end of the closure for drivers to turn around.

The county is restoring Healan’s Head’s Mill and hopes to turn it into a 100-acre park with a heritage center and walking trails.
