The Gainesville City Council will gain a new member on Tuesday. Juli Clay, assistant vice president of executive programs at Brenau University, will be sworn in for her first term. Council members Zack Thompson and Barbara Brooks will begin their second terms.

Clay earned 72.6% of the vote in November’s election against Bill Bush. She will be filling the seat previously held by Ruth Bruner, who served on the Council for 16 years and decided to retire.
