Political newcomer Jim Joedecke handily defeated incumbent Tony Funari, denying him the chance to start a fourth four-year term.
Who is he: Joedecke is a New York native who remained in the South after going to law school at the University of Georgia. He had been involved in community and public events in Braselton before deciding to run.
How he reacted: “I’m happy. I had a lot of support from some old friends and new friends. I’m excited to get to work and learn from the folks who are on the council already.”
On the issues: Joedecke has said he wants to see a comprehensive transportation plan, better maintenance of roadways and rights of way, and a “strengthened development code.”
What’s next: His term begins Jan. 1.
