Bo Hatchett, a Habersham County attorney and business owner, is running to represent District 50 in the Georgia Senate.

Hatchett, a Republican, grew up in Demorest, went to Georgia Tech for a biology degree and then the University of Georgia for his law degree. He is now an attorney at the firm of Cathey and Strain in Cornelia.

“This community raised me on the conservative principles and beliefs that make our nation great,” Hatchett said in a statement. “Our district deserves a home grown Republican who will protect our values in Atlanta. I am pro-life, a proud gun owner and supporter of the 2nd Amendment, and I am an original 2016 primary supporter of President Donald

Trump.”

Hatchett said he wants to “defend our Northeast Georgia values against the rising wave of socialism.”

He and his wife, Ashley, are parents to a two-year-old, Hallie, and are anticipating the birth of their second child, Hazel, in March.

John Wilkinson currently holds the District 50 seat but has announced he is running for Georgia’s 9th District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

District 50 includes all of Banks, Franklin, Habersham, Rabun, Stephens and Towns and portions of Hall and Jackson counties.
