Kellie Weeks, owner of Georgia Gun Store in Gainesville, is running to represent Georgia’s 9th District in the U.S. House of Representatives.

“I feel it's time to have someone in Congress who understands guns, gun owners and all the laws,” Weeks, a Republican, said in a statement. “We also need to rebuild our mental healthcare system and introduce term limits to get rid of career politicians.”

She is originally from Stone Mountain. She and her husband Mike have been married for 25 years and opened their business in 2010. They have two children in college.

Weeks has been an advocate for her children and others with Tourette syndrome for the past 18 years, according to her campaign announcement. She has done several fundraisers for Camp Twitch & Shout, raising over $20,000. She has also served on the boards of organizations serving those with Tourette syndrome.

“Kellie is also an avid animal lover and has rescued dozens of animals over the years, paid their vet bills and found them homes,” according to her campaign announcement.

Doug Collins, who currently holds the 9th District seat, is running for the U.S. Senate.
