Police: No charges likely in hotel stabbing

Gainesville’s police chief said no charges are expected in a reported stabbing last week at a Gainesville extended-stay hotel.

Officers responded around 11:15 p.m. May 2 to the HomeTowne Studios on Jesse Jewell Parkway regarding a man with a cut on his arm. The officers applied a tourniquet to stop the man’s bleeding.

The man was treated and released from Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

“(The) case was determined to be self-defense. There will be no charges,” Chief Jay Parrish wrote in an email.

Police said previously that the man was stabbed by an acquaintance and that it was an isolated incident. Neither is expected to be charged.
