Officers and investigators gather at the front of the Park Hill Drive CVS Pharmacy, where a man was fatally shot Feb. 7.

Following a trio of crimes in the area, Gainesville Police announced an increased police presence in the area of Park Hill Drive.

“There will be a combination of marked and unmarked units in the area,” the department announced on its Facebook page.

The most recent events in the area include the fatal shooting of Jack Hough on Feb. 7 in the CVS Pharmacy parking lot and an armed robbery Tuesday, Feb. 12, at the Texaco.

In the Texaco robbery, the “clerk advised two men came inside dressed in all black with their faces covered, presented firearms and demanded money,” Sgt. Kevin Holbrook wrote in an email.

The two men ran away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The Park Hill Drive area is also 2 miles from the Jesse Jewell Parkway Huddle House, where a man was shot multiple times Jan. 23.

DeMarvin Bennett, 24, of East Point, was charged with murder in Hough’s death, and Willie Joe Moran, 24, was charged in the Huddle House shooting.
