A 17-year-old allegedly brought a samurai sword to school Tuesday to show to others, Gainesville Police said.

“A student brought a sword to school and began showing it off during dismissal in the parking lot,” Sgt. Kevin Holbrook said.

The student was booked into the Hall County Jail as Danied Todd Cannon.

“No student or staff was in any danger and there was no malicious intent,” wrote Gainesville High School Principal Tom Smith in an email. “At that point protocols were followed and will continue to be followed.”
