Police find Flowery Branch man dead in hospital parking lot

A Flowery Branch man died after being found in a vehicle in the Northeast Georgia Medical Center parking lot in Gainesville, police said.

Gainesville Police responded around 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 17 to the Spring Street parking lot near the hospital regarding a possible overdose.

“Once on scene, officers found hospital staff rendering aid to a male on the ground next to a white pick-up truck,” Cpl. Jessica Van wrote in a news release.

The man, later identified as Christopher Michael Wethington, 28, was moved shortly after into the hospital, where he was declared dead.

The case is still under active investigation, and police did not release any further details.
