A Sautee man indicted this month in a fatal shooting is facing a new charge from an incident two weeks prior, police said.

Talon Lowery, 19, was served at the jail for a charge of misdemeanor battery by Gainesville Police. Lowery was indicted Nov. 6 in alleged connection to the shooting of Bryan Ramirez, 18, of Gainesville four days earlier.

Hall County Sheriff’s Office said Lowery shot Ramirez in the back with a rifle at the Cleveland Highway Texaco.

Gainesville Police Sgt. Kevin Holbrook said the department took a battery report Oct. 19 at the Shallowford Road Walmart

Holbrook said the victim “was walking down the frozen food aisle at Walmart.”

“She turned the corner. The individual punched her and ran off exiting Walmart,” Holbrook said.

Holbrook said there was no connection discovered between Lowery and the 35-year-old victim.

“When he was taken into custody for the homicide in the sheriff’s office, it was revealed that the suspect in this case was the same one,” Holbrook said.

Lowery’s attorney did not return a call for comment.
