A proposal for a 240-unit apartment complex off Thompson Mill Road in South Hall County has been withdrawn.

A public hearing set for Thursday, July 5, before the Braselton Mayor and Council has been canceled, according to Braselton officials.

MV Residential Development LLC’s plans for the Reserve at Braselton ran into opposition from residents and public officials.

Four people spoke against the complex at the June 25 meeting of the Braselton Planning Commission. At least some of the opposition centered on the developer’s plans to use tax credits to provide affordable housing, which wasn’t included in the application.

A final vote before the mayor and council had been set for July 9.

The complex, which had been planned on 30 acres east of Spout Springs Road, called for one-, two- and three-bedroom units with possible rents ranging from $800 to $1,100.
