A person was killed in a crash Jan. 1 on the Interstate 985 ramp at Ga. 13.

Shari Brown, 56, of Lake City was killed when the car she was riding in failed to yield when turning left from Ga. 13 onto the southbound entrance ramp to I-985, according to the Georgia State Patrol. The crash happened about 3:50 p.m.

John Brown, 61, also of Lake City was the driver, state patrol reported. He is charged with homicide by vehicle in the first degree, DUI and failure to yield. He was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with injuries.

The car he was driving, a 2001 Cadillac Deville, was struck on its right side by a 2009 Nissan 370Z that was traveling north on Ga. 13. A 2017 Hyundai Elantra was stopped on the ramp, and a 2010 GMC Acadia stopped behind it. The Cadillac struck the Hyundai, causing it to travel backward and hit the GMC.

The driver of the Nissan suffered minor injuries. The drivers of the other two vehicles were not injured.
