Tax commissioner: Some candidates paid late, others were on time

Hall County’s Tax Commissioner Keith Echols said Thursday that the online database of tax records is not completely accurate in reflecting when all property owners paid their bills. Three candidates for local office, two of whom disputed the database’s claims that they were a week late paying property taxes, likely did pay on time, Echols said. When contacted earlier this week by The Times, both Nath Morris and Richard “Dick” Mecum said their personal records showed they had made timely payments to the tax commissioner.
