One person was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with minor injuries after a train struck a tractor trailer Friday night near Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport in Gainesville.

Gainesville Fire Department spokesman Keith Smith said the tractor-trailer somehow became stuck on the railroad tracks around 10 p.m. Friday at Industrial and Aviation boulevards.

“The train struck the trailer portion of the truck,” Smith said.

One person in the tractor-trailer refused medical transport.

Smith was unaware of how the tractor-trailer became situated on the railroad tracks.
