The driver in a crash Monday, Nov. 12, on Interstate 985 arrived at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in stable condition after authorities initially believed he was in critical condition.
“It appears that they lost control when they hydroplaned,” Gainesville Police Sgt. Kevin Holbrook said.
He and another occupant of the vehicle were pulled from wreckage between mile markers 17 an 18 on I-985 northbound, Holbrook said. One lane was shut down as authorities worked the scene around 5 p.m.
The injuries were not as serious as they previously appeared, Holbrook said.
The vehicle was traveling northbound on the interstate when it lost control, struck the guardrail and a tree, according to the preliminary investigation.
Identities of those involved have not been released.
