A Jefferson woman died and a child suffered serious injuries in a single-vehicle wreck Friday morning on Interstate 85 in Braselton.

Jackson County EMS responded at 7:22 a.m. Friday to mile marker 132 on I-85 northbound, where they found a car that had rolled over several times.

Rebecca Anderson, 39, was driving a Ford Explorer with her daughter Victoria Brady, 23, of Jefferson, and Brady’s 5-year-old son, according to Georgia State Patrol.

“According to a witness and the front seat passenger, a tractor trailer attempted to change lanes from the right lane to the left lane,” according to the state patrol. “The driver of the Explorer swerved to the left to avoid a collision and traveled into the grass median, where (the vehicle) overturned multiple times.”
Anderson was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Victoria Brady declined medical treatment.

The child was “improperly restrained and was ejected from the vehicle, coming to rest in the grass median,” according to state patrol.

He was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The case is under investigation by state patrol.
