Hall County and federal authorities are investigating an armed robbery Tuesday morning at a North Hall bank.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office described the lone suspect as a white man who is about 5-foot-7 and has a slender build. He was wearing “what appears to be a fisherman’s hat,” with some kind of bandana across his face, at the time of the robbery, which took place at 11 a.m., spokeswoman Deputy Nicole Bailes said.

The man wore a long-sleeve, red or rust-colored shirt and blue jeans, and he drove away in a white Nissan car, traveling south on Cleveland Highway, she added.

He also is believed to be 30 to 40 years old.

No one was injured in the incident.

Deputies responded after getting a call that the man had entered the BB&T bank at 5289 Cleveland Highway near Quillians Corner, holding a gun and demanding money from the tellers, Bailes said.

The man put the money in a leopard-printed tote bag or purse before leaving the bank, which is in a busy commercial area, and driving away, she said.

He “was able to get away with one teller drawer,” said Trooper Jonathan Munger, spokesman for the Georgia State Patrol’s Post 6 in Gainesville.

The state patrol had “numerous troopers in the area, along with Hall County (deputies),” and it dispatched a helicopter to search the area, Munger said.

The FBI also has joined the investigation, and authorities are working on a composite sketch of the suspect, said Special Agent Stephen Emmett, spokesman for the FBI’s Atlanta division.
