Oakwood Police are looking for a suspect in a GameStop armed robbery that led to a brief lockdown of the University of North Georgia’s Gainesville campus on Sunday afternoon.
Surveillance footage shows the suspect entered Game Stop and stood in line before walking up to the register, pulling out a black handgun and demanding cash from the cashier.
He was given cash before he “calmly walked out of the store,” according to police, who didn’t disclose the amount of cash that was taken.
Police said the suspect is a slender black man in his 20s and between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall. He has a mustache and was wearing dark sunglasses, a black baseball cap and a black jacket.
A nearby business’ surveillance video shows he may have left in a gray car similar to a Chrysler 200.
Oakwood Police are trying to identify the suspect, and anyone with information can call Sgt. Danny Sridej at 770-534-2364. They can also call Crime Stoppers Atlanta’s tip line at 404-577-8477 or text CSA and the tip to 274637. Tipsters can remain anonymous and are eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
A man who picked up the phone at GameStop said any questions about the robbery would have to be directed to the store’s corporate office.
