Oakwood patrons can no longer drink past cut-off time

Alcoholic beverage restrictions have gotten a little tighter in Oakwood.

City Council approved a new ordinance Monday night requiring establishments to stop allowing patrons to drink alcohol beyond midnight, the permitted cut-off time drinks can be served.

Such a practice “promotes unsafe … driving on city streets,” the ordinance states.

“We had an issue with one business selling multiple drinks right at the cut-off time … and then remaining open for several hours,” City Manager Stan Brown said.
