A statewide initiative will give local nonprofits an opportunity to raise money together this holiday season.Georgia Gives Day is a 24-hour fundraising campaign for nonprofits. The event is being led by the Georgia Center for Nonprofits and will take place from midnight Dec. 5 to midnight Dec. 6. The goal is to raise as much money as possible in one day.“The Georgia Center for Nonprofits does a great job of promoting activities like this and we’re looking forward to a successful event,” Jim Mathis, CEO of the North Georgia Community Foundation, said.Nonprofit leaders in the community, including United Way of Hall County, the North Georgia Community Foundation and the Medical Center Foundation are encouraging all local nonprofits to get involved.“We hope that when people go to that website on that day they’ll see a large variety of organizations from Hall County to choose from,” Jackie Wallace, president of United Way, said.
